March 16/17 Backpacking – Mudhole Gap

A great trip, and cooooold last night, but everyone did great!  We need to talk about bring less trash next time though, there are always opportunities to improve.

Service Opportunity – March 26

Mrs. Greiner recently asked the PLC what kinds of projects they would like to do, and this one was selected!

Baseball Field Cleanup: Service to our community

Saturday, March 23 Luckett Field Cleanup, all day. The City and Alexandria Little League need help cleaning out shrubbery and a number of invasive species from the area around the Luckett ballfield where balls constantly get lost. Wear long pants and long shirts under your Scout shirts and gloves, as there is poison ivy in the area. Mrs. Greiner and her sons will be at the field from 1:00-3:00PM. E-mail her at 58donahue@cua.edu if you plan to join us. If you would like to help at an earlier time in the day, just show up after 9AM. Luckett Field is located at 3540 Wheeler Ave, Alexandria, VA, near the skateboard park.

Eagle Court of Honor – Sam Waters –  March 30

Sam Water’s family have asked me to announce that they will have their Eagle COH on March 30 from 3 to 4 pm at the Del Ray Baptist Church chapel at 2405 Russell Road.  Show your support and show up!

Climbing, Camping, and Hiking at Sugarloaf Mountain, April 6/7

Camping nearby, rock climbing during the day, and hiking as well at nearby Sugarloaf Mountain.  We’ll even have some guests with us!

High Adventure – Dolly Sods July 7-13 (week)

Our five day four night foray into the wild of West Virginia’s Dolly Sods trip is scheduled for July . The Dolly Sods crew’s next steps are locking in our participants ( that includes adults) and selecting our crew leader.  This position is perfect for the scout who is looking for a leadership position that will challenge him and help him become an even better scout.  You don’t have to do everything but you will have to delegate. Don’t hesitate to step up.

Next steps are developing a calendar, training hikes, gear preparation, route selection and meal planning.

See Mr. Rodger and Mr Guynn for more information.

Notes from the Senior Patrol Leader:

– BRING YOUR COATS!  It is winter, it’s cold, we go outside for activities.  Be Prepared.

– PATROL LEADERS – It is your responsibility to touch base with your Patrols and be sure that they are paying attention to the Skills Training and working on their Advancement

– CELL PHONE USAGE – Not in the troop meetings, except with very few exceptions when they are being used for advancement or merit badges.

– Uniforms and Opening/Closing Ceremonies – wear your Field Uniforms and line up properly for the ceremonies.

– BRING YOUR SCOUTBOOKS TO THE MEETINGS!  Opportunities for Advancement are being wasted just because Scouts don’t remember their books.

Other Items of Interest
