I hope you are having a great weekend and thank you all who came to the committee meeting on Thursday. It is always heartening to see so many adults who are committed to the success of the troop.
There are a ton of scout activities going on in October, so please read through the information below!
PARENTS and UNIT SCOUTER RESERVES: A good many of the ASM’s including me, will not be able to attend the Camporee due to other commitments. I am concerned that we may be short on adults in the troop who can go. Please consider attending! In addition, I am looking for a former or current “rocketeer”, to take responsibility for the rocket launch part of the trip. We have everything you need; we just need someone to be the point person!
TROOP MEETING
We will have a Troop meeting at 7:30 PM this Monday at Immanuel Church on the Hill!
In preparation for the upcoming Camporee (Oct 17th) the troop will provide model rockets for you to build and then bring on the camping trip. At the camporee (Wonders of Flight) we will have the opportunity to launch them and work on the Space Exploration Merit Badge. We will have a limited number of rockets, so Scouts who sign up (see below) for the camporee will have priority over those who don’t.
Provided you have your totin’chip, please bring your pocket knives to the meeting- preferably ones with scissors.
SERVICE PROJECTS: PUMPKIN DROP OFF & ART ON THE AVE– Oct 4th
There are two service opportunities this coming weekend, see notes below from Mrs. Ramirez, the troop Service Coordinator.
Make sure to wear your GREEN Class B T-shirt and bring work gloves. We should come out in FULL force to help support our amazing sponsor- Immanuel Church on the Hill.

With October comes our Pumpkin Patch at the Church (our Troop Sponsor!) – starting October 4.
We have 3 signups: 10/4 and 10/18 are the pumpkin set-ups and sales, and 11/1 is the take-down. Keep in mind that we will need to balance our volunteers on 11/1 which coincides with Scouting for Food.
Sign up link here – and thank you for your support and service for our community!

Adjacent to the Patch, Art on the Avenue is taking place next Saturday where we need volunteers (Scouts and Adults) to lead an activity at the Kids’ Crafts station in the afternoon. All supplies are provided but we need some helping hands. Sign up here – please prioritize the Patch in the morning and sign up for AOTA slots only in the afternoon.
And wouldn’t you know it – Scouting for Food is just around the corner! As in past years, tag drop-off is first (11/1/25), with food/bag pickups 1 week later (11/8). Sign-up to follow soon.
Thank you for your service to our communities.

All scouts signed up for Philmont should attend unless they have a conflict, but anyone can join. We’ll hike from Jones point to Mt. Vernon and then get rides back to Alexandria.
