TROOP MEETING
With that said, we are still planning for an in-person meeting Monday night, starting at 7:30. Unless there are Thunderstorms/Lighting, we will hold the meeting in the rain, and if it does rain, this provides us a good opportunity for everyone to test out their rain gear. There is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing!
If it looks bad (aka torrential downpour or lighting), then we will cancel, so please check your email before you head to the meeting.
MASKS
While it is not required, we are going to encourage everyone start wearing their masks again during the troop meetings and social distance as much as possible. As I mentioned in my email earlier this week, we had a recent Covid case in the troop and we think this prudent, as we have a few unvaccinated scouts (due to age), many scouts with unvaccinated siblings and some people with compromised immune systems.
TROOP GEAR
PLEASE RETURN THE TROOP GEAR!
We are missing quite a bit of equipment so please bring it to the meeting and return to the shed!
CALENDAR
Please see attached schedule for the fall. This will continue to evolve through the coming weeks and months; however, this should give you all an idea of the general plan for the next few months and when the major activities will take place
You will note that we have two activities in October: the camporee and climbing. Given that we missed so many activities during the last year and that every Scout I speak to always talks about camping as their favorite part of Scouting, we thought it appropriate to squeeze in one more activity.
In preparation for the Roaring run Back Packing Trip and since we have many scouts who either have not gone backpacking or it has been some time since they went, I am sponsoring a 2–3-mile Shakedown back packing hike around Delray on Sunday 9/12. This will give you all a chance to fill your packs and then test them in the neighborhood. At the next troop meeting, please bring the same filled packs, the older scouts can review them and tell you all the stuff you either forgot or don’t need!
You don’t want the hike at Roaring Run, to be the first time you put your pack on! More information to come, but it will likely occur in early afternoon.
