Troop 131,

Thank you all who came out yesterday for ILST and Merit Badge Classes.  Thank you to Mr. Farmer for organizing the training and Mr. Grocki for organizing the Merit Badge Classes.  I will bring the partially completed blue cards to the meeting tomorrow for all the scouts who attended.

I know that there was at least one Scout who went on the OA ordeal this weekend, hopefully we have a few new Order of the Arrow members at tomorrow’s meeting.

See note below concerning Lenhok’sin and the Bird Knob Trips.  Unfortunately, it looks like we are going to have to cancel due to either not enough interest or not the required number of adults.

Please look at the bottom of the email, I listed all the activities that we have coming to before summer camp, so please mark your calendar!  There are tons of great scouting events so let’s finish out the school year strong!

We will have a Board of Review this Monday!

We will have a Troop meeting at 7:30PM this Monday at Immanuel Church on the Hill! Your leadership team will have a good plan!

BACKPACKING TRIP- BIRD KNOB

All see the note from Mr. Grocki. The trip is THIS weekend.  Please sign up if you have not already done so.  Right now, we have 6 scouts signed up but unfortunately just 1 adult (me). We need at least one other adult (preferably 2), otherwise this will become a day hike, or we will have to cancel outright.  Please sign up if you intend to go.

What: Spring Backpacking

When: FRIDAY 17 Apr – Sun 19 Apr 2026
Where: Bird Knob & Emerald Pond
Why: We’re a backpacking Troop!

This is a short but challenging 4.5 mile hike to the pond where we’ll camp Saturday night.  Once we set up camp and have lunch there will be an optional loop hike Saturday afternoon for anyone who needs another 10 mile day for the merit badge.  Sunday morning is 4 miles out to the parking spot, mostly down hill.

Dehydrated backpacking meals are fine for this trip but we’d like everyone to plan a crew meal for Saturday dinner.

SUMMER CAMP – LENHOK’SIN TRAIL TREK

What is better than summer camp?  Two summer camps! For those that just cannot get enough or those scouts going to Philmont and who want a final training session, this is your opportunity to go on a 5-day trek through the mountains of Western Virginia. It is a good way to test yourself and maximize backpacking experiences!

Who: Scouts in the troop over 13 (by 9/1/2026)

What: Lenhok’sin Trail Trek

When: Goshen Week 4 (7/12-7/18)

Where: Goshen Scout Reservation – Camp Baird

Why: Philmont Training and we LOVE Backpacking

Cost: $675 or $645 by 4/15 (early bird)
