Troop 131,
I hope you all are enjoying the final days of your summer! For those at ACPS, unfortunately there is only one more week to go before you go back to school.
Both Philmont Crews (and the adults- forever now known as the “11-year-olds”) made it back to Alexandria safe and sound. Everyone was a little tired but certainly appreciative of the experience and filled with stories. For those that are interested, I included at the end of this email my notes and Log from the trek. The 5th and final entry contains the bulk of the experience on the trek, so skip that part if you are curious.
TROOP MEETING & BoR
We will have a Troop meeting at 7:30 PM this Monday at Immanuel Church on the Hill. The meeting will be light but fun with a focus on the Philmont Experience.
While you still should wear your Class A uniform, if you are a Philmont Veteran, be sure to wear your well-earned swag, certainly your arrowhead patch, belt buckles and T-shirts (under your uniform) at a minimum!
During the meeting we will hold a Board of Review for any scout that is ready for the next rank. Unless you have already done so, please let Mrs. Farmer our Advancement Chair know if you are eligible!
COURT OF HONOR & PICNIC – CoH
See email below from our Committee Chair, Mrs. Devlin. It will soon be the time of year for one of my favorite Troop events, the end of summer troop Court of Honor and Picnic! Families are certainly welcome and encouraged to attend. This is the time of year we get to celebrate all our accomplishments over the last six months and kick-off the fall scouting activities!
Please note that we are starting 1 hour earlier than usual– to maximize daylight and to accommodate the bed time of younger siblings!

SCUBA TRIP and CAMPOUT
The last camping trip of the summer is the upcoming Scuba trip. Even if you are not planning on Scuba Diving, you are welcome to attend the camping trip portion of the trip. See info below and link to sign up!
Who: Scuba Students Required and All Others Welcome
What: Troop 131 Scuba Open Water Dive and Camping
When: Fri 28 Aug – Sun 30 Aug
Where: Lake Phoenix – Rawlins, VA
Why: One last summer camping trip
Cost: $50 for Camping Only (Scuba class participants pay in advance)
This camping trip is required for all participants in the SCUBA class to complete the certification. All others are welcome to just camp and certified divers can dive if they want to. Please use the link below to sign up early so we can organize the logistics outside of the class participants.
