Scoutmaster-Update

NO TROOP MEETING:

We will not have a troop meeting on Monday and in observance of Presidents Day.

The next meeting is on February 28th. If you would like a Board of Review, then please contact Ms. Haymes (if you have not already done so).  I know of at least three new rank candidates!

 GEAR COLLECTION/WINTER CAMPING TRIP

It is not too late to sign up for the winter camping trip!  See link below.

If you need gear from the Shed, I will be at First Baptist on Monday 2/21 from 6:00 to 6:30 to open the shed and let you collect any gear that you need for the camping trip.

Scouts, please make sure contact your patrol mates and coordinate food for the camping trip!  Given the excellent Dutch oven cooking from Mr. Rogers on Monday, this would be the perfect trip for you all to try a Dutch Oven Recipe yourselves!  The troop has two Dutch ovens and I have two personal ones as well if you need one.

So it must be time for Troop 131 to do some Cold Weather Camping!!!!  That’s right baby, the colder the better.  There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear.  So gear up and join us!

We will be camping 25-27 Feb at Marsden Tract (https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/251544)

The Marsden Tract Group Campground was built by scouts to provide access to larger campsites within easy commuting distance of the D.C. Metro area. It is located at Mile 11.5 on the C&O Canal Towpath, between the Carderock Recreation Area and Anglers Inn. The group campsites are nestled in the woods between the Canal and the Potomac River and they are a short distance from many recreational opportunities.

Scouts will do some hiking, camp fire building, and other activities.  It will be cold, but it will be fun!

So Sign Up Now and come enjoy the cold:

GOSHEN – Parents Meeting

For those that already know they want to go to Goshen this summer, please see the email (or click on the link below) from Mr. Daren Devlin (email: summercamp@t131.org) with the registration information.  Mr. Devlin built a totally amazing and very easy to use electronic sign-up form.  We used it today to sign up Theo and I was in awe!

Please make sure you have an idea on what merit badges you are interested in taking before you go on.

Mr. Devlin is going to host a Parents Meeting on February 28th during the first part of the troop meeting, for any parents who have questions or want to volunteer to come for the week (or partial week).
