2026-04-19 This Week: Troop Meeting, Car Wash, Climboree, NCAC Orienteering Meet, 20 Mile Hike, One-month Look Ahead

Troop 131,

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the backpacking trip this weekend, but I was still able to get a hike in at Harpers Ferry, and it was a great day to be outdoors!

Last meeting we had a lot of fun with the cook-off … Although clean up and time management continues to be an issue … be sure to bring all your clean and dry troop gear back so we can restock the troop bins!

Please see below, we have four posting and/or sign-up links for upcoming activities. In addition, I list all the activities that we have coming to before summer camp, so please mark your calendar!  There are tons of great scouting events so let’s finish out the school year strong!

Philmont Crew and Parents, per my email to you on Wednesday, we are having a crew meeting at 6:45 on Monday.  Scouts, you will elect the crew positions and make some other planning decisions. Parents, in parallel to the crew meeting, we are going to discuss travel logistics.

TROOP MEETING

We will have a Troop meeting at 7:30PM this Monday at Immanuel Church on the Hill! Your leadership team will have a good plan!  Part of the meeting will include speeches by those taking the Public Speaking Merit Badge, so be sure to be respectful (aka quiet) during their time behind the podium!

CLIMBOREE- OCT 9-12^th (sign up opens on 4/25)

All,

There was some interest in attending the Climboree again this year and (most importantly) some potential adult leaders to run the event based on email responses I got.  So, I’ve put together a signup sheet at the link below.  Registration opens NEXT SATURDAY and this event fills up quickly.  Please sign up as soon as possible if you want to go.  The number of scouts we can accommodate will be limited by the number of adults camping and able to drive.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

NCAC ORIENTEERING MEET- MAY 2^ND

All,

We’re planning on participating in the NCAC Orienteering Meet this year in a few weeks.  More details can be found at the link below.  This event is highly encouraged for Philmont scouts to help prepare for navigation requirements on our trek.  All scouts are welcome and this is a good way to fulfill requirements for the merit badge.

20 MILE DAY HIKE TO MT. VERNON AND BACK- MAY 9^TH

All,

In a few weeks we’ll be hiking to Mount Vernon and back.  This is a 20-mile hike to meet the merit badge requirements. Participation is highly encouraged for all Philmont Scouts, but all are welcome.  We’ll start again from Jones Point Park and if we get road support some people can just do the first half.  Please sign up below and let me know if you have any questions.
