I hope everyone is enjoying the latest round of SNOW on this MLK long weekend. Just a reminder we will not have a troop meeting tomorrow.
SCHEDULE: Updates
Given the current Omicron Variant we decided it was less than prudent to have a cabin camping activity. In lieu of this and because there is actually cold weather/snow on the ground, we decided to flip some of the activities around. Therefore, we are working to organize a single day Ski Trip next weekend to one of the local resorts (aka Liberty, Whitetail, Roundtop). We appreciate everyone being flexible as we work to make this happen. More information to follow.
For February, we are going to have a full winter camping trip at Mardsen Track in Potomac, MD. This will give us an opportunity to test some of the winter camping skills we have been learning about.
Thank you, Mr. Mulvaney, for organizing these activities!
PATROL LEADERS CONFERENCE (PLC)
We are going to try and have the PLC’s at the second meeting of every month. Given the schedule difficulties coming out of the new year, this month’s PLC has been shifted to next Monday the 24th. PLCs begin ½ hour before the main meeting and at 7:00.
Leaders, please mark your calendars!

MLK Day of Service
I was speaking to Mr. Jahns this afternoon and he reminded that there are lots of Service opportunities available tomorrow. Some may ultimately be canceled due to the snow, but I encourage all of you to look and see if there is something that you can help with. I am sure some of you need service hours for your next rank!
In addition, service does not have so programed, just helping your neighbor shovel their sidewalk, clear a driveway, clean up a fallen tree limb, etc. To a large extent, this is the best kind of service you can offer, that which helps your neighborhood directly.
See info below from My Jahns!
Though we aren’t meeting tomorrow, and the snow has caused some events to be canceled, please consider volunteering! Here are some tips –
ALIVE! is hosting a Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Congregational Food Drive & Reusable Bag Collection! Anyone may bring nonperishable goods and reusable bags to these sites during the collection times listed below from January 14th – 17th. We will gratefully accept the food, reusable bags, or both!

UNIVERSITY OF SCOUTING
For the adult leaders who are not going to attend the Winter Camping at Marsden track, then that same weekend Colonial District is hosting their annual University of Scouting. I have attended a few of these in past years and found them valuable. Last year it was virtual, however, in theory this year they are returning to an in- person event at Hayfield Secondary School (about 7 miles away from us in Fairfax County).
