I hope everyone is having a great weekend! This is a long email, however, there is quite a bit here, so please take the time to read thru everything!
TROOP MEETING & ELECTIONS:
We will have a Troop meeting Monday at 7:30 at Immanuel Church on the Hill.
This week we will have Troop Elections! Thank you, Sean Mulvaney, for the good work over the past six months! We have one confirmed scout who is running for Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) and one who is seriously considering running. Both are great scouts, so either way the troop is in great shape.
Following the election of the SPL, we will break into patrols so that each patrol can decide as a group who will be the Patrol Leader (PL).
The elected SPL appoints the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader(s)(ASPL) and the elected PL appoints the Assistant Patrol Leader (APL).
There are plenty of other leadership positions as well. See below for the most common ones:
· Troop Guide
· Quartermaster
· Scribe
· Den Chief
· Chaplains Aid
· Historian
· Librarian
· Bugler
· Webmaster
If you are not the SPL, ASPL, PL, or APL, then I expect you to step up and take on one of these leadership positions. Leadership is one of the most important parts of scouting!
RAFTING TRIP
We have a good crew for rafting. The last list I saw, had 15 scouts and 7 adults coming! This is the last meeting before the rafting trip, so it is imperative that you do meal planning at the meeting. To aid in the planning and to encourage some mixing, I have combined several of the patrols, see below:
· Radioactive Scorpions: Theo asked to spearhead the meal planning to fulfill a few requirements for First Class so he will take care of the planning for this patrol and the four boys who are coming.
o Theo (Scorpions)
o Jack N (Scorpions)
o Delcan H (Scorpions)
o Tadhg D (Scorpions)
· Combined Moose and the Snapping Turtles- This is the turtles first camping trip, they will benefit from the sage experience of the Moose patrol!
o Jack J (Moose)
o Noah U (Moose)
o Liam VG(Moose)
o Sean M (Moose)
o Andrew D (Turtles)
o Luke I (Turtles)
o Mathew B (Turtles)
· Combined Nylons & Minutemen
o Ryan M (Nylons)
o Jay S (Nylons)
o Miles J (Minutemen)
o Josiah B (Minutemen)
I would like one member from each of these patrols to send me an email after the meeting with the menu and who in the patrol is responsible for purchasing and bringing the food!
ADULT COOKING
I will send a separate email concerning this, however, with so many adults coming- I am going to suggest that two adults each take a meal so that we only must cook once. I think we need to show the scouts what good campfire cooking looks like. The scoutmaster is good for dinner on Friday Night!
TENT PITCHING
For the new scouts and if we have time, we will have a few of the troop tents available at the meeting. I would like you to practice pitching them!
GEAR
If you need gear from the shed, please let me know. Mr. Jahns is going to bring four stoves to the meeting, however, if you have need anything else, send me an email, talk to me at the meeting, send me a smoke signal!
