Scoutmaster-Update

Troop 131,

For those that had the opportunity to get down to Mt Vernon Ave and see the tree lighting, it was certainly a good night, and it was great to see so many people out and about on a Sunday evening.  Santa made an appearance; however, I have a suspicion that we will all see him again soon ….

TROOP MEETING & ELECTIONS:

We will have an in-person Troop meeting at 7:30PM at Immanuel Church on the Hill this Monday

We will hold Troop Elections, and we have two candidates Senior Patrol Leader (SPL)

Nathan Wells and Tadhg Devlin with one or two others still considering running.  For those on the fence, it is not too late, just let me know!

Each candidate for SPL will give a brief speech on why they should be elected and then the troop will have the opportunity to ask them questions.  This is an important position, so please come prepared with some questions on why they will be an effective Sr. Patrol Leader.  Following this we will vote; the current SPL and one adult leader will tabulate the results.

After this, we will break into patrols, and each will vote on the patrol leader.

The elected SPL appoints the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader(s)(ASPL) and the elected PL appoints the Assistant Patrol Leader (APL).

There are plenty of other leadership positions as well.  See below for the most common ones:

  • Troop Guide
  • Quartermaster
  • Scribe
  • Chaplains Aid
  • Librarian
  • Bugler
  • Webmaster
  • Historian
  • Order of the Arrow Representative
  • Outdoor Ethics Guide
  • Den Chief

If you are not the SPL, ASPL, PL, or APL, then I expect you to step up and take on one of these leadership positions.  Leadership is one of the most important parts of scouting and is required for many of the rank advancements!

Finally, The Radioactive Scorpions and the Minute Men have merged into a single patrol and will now be known as the Mustachios!.

ARCHITECTURAL WALKING TOUR- TAKE 3 (third time’s a charm)
