Scoutmaster-Update

I hope you are enjoying this fine (summer) …. I mean spring weather!

TROOP MEETING

We will have an in-person Troop meeting at 7:30PM at Immanuel Church on the Hill this Monday.

We have lots to cover at the meeting.  In particular, for the scouts going on the camping trip.

  • Meal Planning
  • Sign out any gear you need from the shed (tents, stoves, pots, pans, etc)
  • Fill out the duty roster- See attached.
  • See attached list of gear/supplies to bring on the camping trip (both personal and the patrol chuck box)

New Scouts- If you are going on the camping trip, your SPL has requested that you please bring your backpack– filled and packed as if you are going on the trip.  A few of the older scouts will review it with you and provide a few pointers on how to pack and what to bring.

I see that 7 new scouts are coming on the trip, so hopefully we will see 7 packs!  You will see attached to this email a handy checklist to remind you of personal items that might be necessary.  Keep in mind that these lists are just to help remind you of the things you may need.  BE PREPARED– think ahead on the things you will need!

One handy way to think of your pack is that it is a bag of bags.  Your essentials are in one bag, your clothes in another, your sleeping bag, etc…

Snapping Turtles– we will not require that you bring your packs, however, I think there are a few of you that have not camped very much and will benefit from bringing your pack as well.  Please feel free to do so!

NEW SCOUT PATROLS

We did not have enough of a quorum to vote on patrol names; however, we WILL do this at Monday’s meeting, no matter how many scouts are in attendance.  Please come prepared on Monday to decide on the name of your patrol and elect a patrol leader!  See below the roster for the two patrols.

We encourage the scouts in the pratol to share email addresses and/or phone numbers if they have them.  It is important that you communicate as a unit!

ISAAC WORKMAN- April 29th, 30th and May 6th

Hello scouts,

My Eagle Scout Project will be on the 29th and 30th of April, and the 6th of May. We will be repairing the Bush Hill Presbyterian Church garden and adding labels so the preschoolers can learn about native plants in our area. We will be tearing down the old retaining wall and putting in a new one, as well as pulling out invasive species and planting native ones.

We will have pizza and water for anyone who is able to come help.

There are 2-3 shifts to choose from each day.

I would really appreciate the help from anyone who can make it.

Thank you,

Isaac Workman
