Service Opportunities
THE WAR (SOME OF) YOUR PARENTS GREW UP IN: Sunday July 14 at 6:30AM Troop 131 Scouts will have the opportunity to honor fallen servicemen and women of the Vietnam War by washing the walls of the Vietnam War Memorial. The official address is 5 Henry Bacon Dr. NW, Washington, DC 20245. There is parking available on Constitution Avenue. A Ranger from the National Parks Department will meet our group at 6:30am and provide hoses, sprayers, soap, buckets, brushes, trash bags and instructions. Please e-mail Sarah Greiner at 58donahue@cua.edu with the names of everyone from your family who will attend, your phone number, and the ages of anyone under 18 attending, as we need to submit these ahead of time. This is a wonderful opportunity to honor those who gave everything. Notes from the Senior Patrol Leader: – PATROL LEADERS – It is your responsibility to touch base with your Patrols and be sure that they are paying attention to the Skills Training and working on their Advancement – CELL PHONE USAGE – Not in the troop meetings, except with very few exceptions when they are being used for advancement or merit badges.
– Its Summertime, and the SPL has decided that neckerchiefs are not required, so leave them at home and stay cool! – BRING YOUR SCOUTBOOKS TO THE MEETINGS! Opportunities for Advancement are being wasted just because Scouts don’t remember their books. Other Items of Interest Stem Committee: Contact Mr. Steenstra at the troop meeting if you would like to be on it! There are lots of great opportunities around the area. |
