Scoutmaster-Update

Troop 131,

Thank you all who came to the court of honor last Monday.  It was great to see so many scouts and families in attendance.  Despite the challenges of the fall, it was heartening to see so many Rank and Merit Badge advancements!  Keep up the good work!

IN PERSON MEETING:

We will have an in-person meeting Monday at 7:30 at Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill.

As I mentioned last week and due to previous scheduling commitments, we will not have access to the Parish Hall at Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill during the month of April and until May 9th.  Therefore, we will have a 100% outdoor meeting this week.  Please BE PREPARED, dress appropriately, bring a headlamp, etc.

When you arrive, please come to the back lawn (where the fire pit is) and we will have and outdoor meeting there.  I believe that fire building is once again on the agenda, so it should be a fun evening again!

During the meeting, please do not go into the Parish Hall and keep your noise level down.  We do not want to disturb those inside.

Right now, rain is not in the forecast, however, given my luck, anything can happen, so stay tuned.

EAGLE SCOUT SERVICE PROJECT:

I saw the fruits of his labor yesterday and it looks like Mathew Haymes service project is off to a great start.  While most of the scouts came back a bit dirty, everyone seemed to be in good spirts, after all, how often do you get free license to play in the mud!  Today is day two, and I look forward to an update on how it went.

Thank you to all the scouts (and non-scout siblings) that helped this weekend!

Mathew still as slots open for April 30th and May 1st, so be sure to help if you can!

Upcoming Eagle Project: Matthew Haymes needs your help this weekend (April 2-3)! Installing exclosures in 4 Mile Run. The planting and protection work you’ll be doing will directly improve the health of our local wetland, and create homes for the wildlife living there. Please read carefully what you’re signing up for, details of what you’ll need and what you’ll be doing are in the link. Sign up below for Saturday and/or Sunday afternoon.

GOSHEN

We have 13 scouts registered for Summer Camp so far.  The Merit Badge Selection opened on March 31st and Mr. Devlin and I were online the second it opened franticly registering everyone.  I am pleased to announce that we were able to register just about everyone to the Merit Badges that wanted!  This includes some of the ones that fill up quickly, such as shooting sports, water activities, etc.

With that said, it is not too late to sign up for summer camp, however, the early Discount ends on April 15th!

Please click on the link below to start the process.

BACKPACKING TRIP: Mudhole Gap

The next camping trip is fast approaching.  See message below from Mr. Mulvaney our Activities Coordinator and please sign up if you have not already done so.

The next trip will be after Spring Break.  We are heading to Mudhole Gap.  This is usually the favorite backpacking trip that we take.  A great time for younger and more experienced Scouts alike.

It is backpacking, no cars this time.  So if you want it, you carry, leave the cast iron at home!

Lots of opportunities on this one for merit badge work- Hiking, Camping, Cooking, Communications (campfire program), and more.  Make sure to see Scoutmaster Ramirez if you need a Blue Card, and then let Mrs. Haymes know.

So sign up early and we can get to planning a terrific trip in April, the weekend of 22-24 April.
