TROOP MEETING:
We will have an in-person Troop meeting at 7:30PM at Immanuel Church on the Hill this Monday.
PLC:
Following the election last week, we will have our first Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) tomorrow at 7:00. For those that don’t know, this is ½ hour BEFORE or regular meeting!
The SPL, two ASPLs, all Patrol Leaders and their Assistant Patrol Leaders, and the Scribe are expected to attend.
ELECTION FOLLOW UP
First, I am pleased to announce our New SPL and ASPLs.
SPL: Ismail Turunc
ASPL: Gabe Muldoon
ASPL: Tadgh Devlin
Thank you all for stepping up and I look forward to the next 6 months of your leadership!
We have some additional positions to fill and verify, therefore I am going to wait until after tomorrow’s meetings before I announce the rest of the leadership roles.
One item to note, the Mustachios did not have a quorum last week, therefore were unable to vote on the new patrol leader. Tadgh, Theo, and Arthur have all taken troop leadership positions, therefore I am looking for one of the other scouts to step up!
ARCHITECTURAL WALKING TOUR- RECAP
We had 10 scouts attend the Architecture Merit Badge and Walking tour on Saturday. We rode the metro from Braddock to my office and Union Market and had a good day exploring the Architecture Profession including; visiting the office, exploring the material library, seeing the digital and physical modeling tools, discussing the history of Architecture, learning about Sustainable design and much more. It culminated in a walk from Union Market to the Mall looking at buildings and exploring the city.
It was a bit of a long day but thank you to all the scouts (and Mr. Irwin) for joining me!
VISIT FROM PACK 133
We will have a group of Webelos and Parents who are visiting from Pack 133 tomorrow. I will take the adults talk to them for a bit, however, I will need a few scouts to volunteer to talk to the Webelos about the scouting experience.
Here are the things that I would like you to discuss with the scouts:
Describe how the Scouts in the troop provide its leadership.
Describe the four steps of Scout advancement.
Describe ranks in Scouting and how they are earned.
Describe what merit badges are and how they are earned.
List the three steps you will go through once you have completed all the requirements for a rank in
Scouting. These are the Scoutmaster conference, board of review, and recognition.
Explain what the patrol is and how it works.
Identify the different patrols that a troop may have.
List the differences between a new-Scout patrol and a traditional patrol in a Scout troop.
Describe the First-Class Scout badge and tell what each part stands for. Explain the significance
of the First-Class Scout badge.
