Let me start by wishing all the dads out there a Happy Father’s Day. My children are away at Goshen, so I did not get to hang out with them, but I was able to fit in a good hike today at Pohick Bay State Park!

It is hard to believe but we are less than two weeks away from summer camp. For those going, make sure you check that you have all your gear and please make sure to do your pre-requisite requirements beforehand, otherwise you will receive a partial blue card.
TROOP MEETING
We will have a Troop meeting at 7:30 PM this Monday at Immanuel Church on the Hill. The meeting will focus on knots and lashings and of course leave plenty of time for rank advancement!

Hello All,
If you have been coming to meetings recently you may know that I am working on my Eagle Project, and that it is coming up soon.
To start, I do still need cardboard and will be at the meeting on Monday the 22nd to pick up any plain, corrugated cardboard that you want to donate. It cannot be laminated.
To give a quick overview of the project, we will be constructing and installing three 1.5*6ft wooden garden beds (and filling them with soil) as well as an arbor for the Mount Vernon Community School (The big elementary school on Mount Vernon Ave). Scouts will be using drills, sanding equipment, and various measuring tools to construct the beds at Mr. Jahns’ house on one day, and then using shovels to install the beds as well as the arbor. The first day will heavily involve power tool usage(e.g. cordless drills) which is restricted to scouts 13 and above, but all are welcome! Scouts of all ages are requested to come help on the second day.
I have confirmed dates for my project. It will happen on Saturday the 27th (6/27) at Mr. Jahns’ house (107 East Luray Avenue) and Sunday the 28th (6/28) at MVCS (2601 Commonwealth Avenue) in the garden section of the newer playground. There should be parking at the library or next to the playground.
