Troop 131,
Sorry for the VERY long email, however, we are in the heart of the fall scouting season, and we have ton going on!
TROOP MEETING
We will have an in-person Troop meeting Monday at 7:30PM at Immanuel Church on the Hill. Note, we are back to regular hours, and you are expected to wear your scarf!
· Knots and Lashings will be the Skills Activity for the day
· There are four Board of Reviews going on!
· We Conduct a short in meeting PLC (15 minutes) for a post camping trip debrief
· Have a good time
OUTDOOR CODE
In addition to the oath and law, I would like us to recite the outdoor code during out meetings.
As an American, I will do my best to –
- Be clean in my outdoor manners.
- Be careful with fire.
- Be considerate in the outdoors.
- Be conservation minded.
CLIMBOREE RECAP
The trip this weekend was a great success, and we certainly had amazing weather! There was a ton to do, between climbing, hiking, and shooting! I understand that the hike was a bit tough however the scouts who went were rewarded with a spectacular view at the top of the of the climb.
Our Troop hosted the Climboree evening campfire; full of skits, dad jokes and lots of laughing. Thank you to all the scouts who participated!
The service project on Sunday was not a lot of fun (literally cleaning out/digging a drainage ditch) but it was desperately needed and those that participated where able to complete a particularly pesky requirement for the Camping Merit Badge. Thank you to the scouts who gave up part of their Sunday morning for this service project.
Cooking was a bit of mixed bag, while we are improving, we clearly still have much work to do on preparation and execution of successful camping meals. More to come on this thru the fall!
Thank you to Mr. Mulvaney for doing the troop planning as well as Mr. Dalton, Mr. Irwin, and Mr. Nguyen for coming and providing guidance to the scouts.
A very special call out to our own Mr. Bolte who was the Scouter in Charge and who made the entire Camporee happen. I would also be remise if I did not mention Aiden Bolte who volunteered most of the weekend to help and train scouts in Climbing. We are so fortunate to have both of you as part of our troop!
If you will allow me to hit the way back button, when I was a scout (back in the dark ages) I spent a week at Camp Rock Enon for summer camp. I found on my red vest the attached patch.
SCOUT OF THE CAMPING TRIP
Moving forward, the leaders who attend the camping trips will select one scout who excelled or went above and beyond during the outing. The selected scout will be able to pick one of the hand painted slides/woggles from my T-131Woggle Chest!
The scout will be announced at the Monday meeting.
UNIFORM INSPECTION
Thank you all for bringing your “A-game” last week and doing much better with respect to your uniforms. While there is certainly room for improvement, I was impressed how much better you all looked! Remember you represent all scouts when you are in uniform. Now the key is to keep it up. There will be a second surprise inspection sometime this fall, however, I am not going to tell you which day it is, so you all need to look good at every meeting
A special thanks to Mrs. Devlin and Mr. Wells for conducting the inspection and providing great feedback to all of you!
COMMITTEE/PARENTS/ASM MEETING
From Mr. Jahns email, there is a Committee/Parents/ASM Meeting this Wednesday. All parents and adult volunteers are welcomed and encouraged to join us!

This is a great chance to learn about the troop operations, see where you might be able to help and to get any questions you may have answered.

CAR WASH
Our car wash is NEXT SATURDAY from 9:00 to 1:00 at Immanuel Church on the Hill. This is a great way for you to have a bit of fun and help fundraise for our Troop.
More information to come, however, the official attire is bathing suit, water shoes, and your official troop T-131 GREEN CLASS B T-shirt.

EMERGENCY PREPARATION
Most of the Eagle Required Merit badges have a few requirements that are particularly difficult to achieve or accomplish. One such is the Emergency Service Project for the Emergency Preparation Merit Badge.
See message below from Mrs. Pamala Larson who through complete determination was able to arrange a visit form City Officials to run a drill for us. You should have a Blue Card for this Merit Badge in hand if you want to get credit for this requirement- Hint – Hint.
I have scheduled Curice Paulus and Ray Whatley from the City to come and help you and Troop 131 achieve item 7A from the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge Requirement on Monday October 3rd. As a reminder, your requirement is to: Take part in an emergency service project, either a real one or a practice drill, with a Scouting unit or a community agency. As soon as I have confirmation from them on what this drill will be, I will share it with you. Thanks for your patience, it took a while, but I found the right people.

SERVICE HOURS- PUMPKIN PATCH
First, let me thank the adults and scouts who helped our sponsor, Immanuel Church on the Hill, in Pumpkin Patch Preparation this weekend. We received the following note in appreciation!
I’m writing to say thank you for the scouts who came out to the church today to help us prepare the grounds for the upcoming pumpkin patch! We are so appreciative of the help, and the willingness in which it was offered, to take on some in-the-dirt projects we really needed to get done.

For those that missed this, there is PLENTY of opportunity to help more. See information Ms. Kathy Lloyd provided about upcoming opportunities with the Church and the Pumkin Patch. Scouts should be in full Class A (you can skip the scarf) if you volunteer.
Oct 1st & Oct 22nd we particularly need help unloading. Starting 8:30 AM and any time after that. It will go on much of the day!
Oct 15th, we have SSSA & ACDS schools helping, but welcome more!
There will be gloves and refreshments!
We’re in the countdown! Two trucks of pumpkins, driven by Scott and Amanda (our long-time pumpkin truck drivers), will be ready to unload Saturday morning, October 1st. Like last year, pumpkins will come in large boxes on pallets which will be removed from the trucks by a forklift. Two more trucks will arrive Saturday morning, October 15th. If sales go well, we may schedule a fifth truck! We’ll need a lot of helpers to unpack the boxes and place pumpkins on pallets around the Patch. Stop by the Pumpkin Patch any time both Saturdays, starting 8:30 AM – bring gloves – and we’ll be delighted to see you any time that day! We will unpack as many bins of pumpkins as we can on Saturday — and finish on Sunday as needed. Let that sea of vibrant orange, those delicious baked treats, sensational soups, and craft artistry bring joy to our parish – and our community. “There are no transactions; only blessings” – and every customer is a blessing.
