You can register your scouts via this form. We’d like to have everyone register for camp by the end of next Saturday, March 28 so we can get the scouts signed up for their merit badge choices. Right now we have more than a dozen scouts signed up and a few adults. We are still seeking more adults to join the troop at Olmsted; you can come for the whole week or half a week.
Here’s some basic information to help you sign your scout up for Camp Olmsted:
- Location: Camp Olmsted in Goshen, Va.
- Dates: Sunday July 5 through Saturday July 11
- Camp fees: If you register before April 15, the early bird cost for one scout is $580. The Troop tries to register everyone even before that deadline, so we can enroll in merit badge classes on March 31. After April 15, regular registration increases to $610. (Note: This does not include the ~$100 bus fees, which will be collected later, or troop t-shirt fees.) Payment should be submitted via Zelle to treasurer@t131.org. The troop can also accept checks, Square, or cash. If your Scout has funds in their Scout account, we can credit their funds toward the costs.
- Transportation: All scouts will ride the bus to and from Goshen. The roundtrip cost is ~$100. The bus leaves from the Fairfax County Government Center in Fairfax, Virginia and will drop back off at the same location.
- Merit badges: There are many merit badge options available — the 2026 schedule is here.
- Scouts should choose a first (preferred) choice and an alternate (backup) choice for each of the six sessions. You’ll need to have these choices to submit the registration form.
- For new scouts, Olmsted offers the Trailshead program. (This was called New Scout Quest at Marriott).
- Older Scouts can choose to do the Osprey Program. Osprey is a full day, week-long program that includes high adventure opportunities and explores Goshen Scout Reservation. Older scouts also are able to sign up the ATV program or for COPE, which stands for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience.
- About Olmsted: similar to other Goshen camps (there are four separate camps at Goshen), campers sleep on cots in canvas-sided tents (two to a tent) at our troop site. At Olmsted there is a dining hall, and the troop eats its meals together there (this is a change from last year at Marriott, where troops ate at their campsites).
- Forms: Each camper will be required to fill out BSA Medical Forms A, B1, B2 and C as well as the NCAC form. All forms can be found here. Please note that Part C requires the signature of a medical professional, so prioritize getting this signed. These forms will be collected through the spring. There is also a medication form if needed.
- Scholarships: The troop is committed to making Goshen accessible to as many Scouts as possible. If you are interested in a Campership, please let us know.
- Adult campers: We already have a few adults signed up to chaperone, and are looking for at least one, but preferably two, more. Adult early bird registration costs $310 for the whole week (half that for a half week) and increases to $350 for regular registration. The troop will subsidize some of this cost.
