Scoutmaster-Update

I hope you are well!  Unfortunately, our winter camping curse continues.  I thought we had it worked out with the trip to the Poconos, and we could experience some real winter camping, however, the warm weather spoiled our plans.  On top of that, the Eagles lost the super bowl (I will refrain from commenting about a questionable pass interference call near the end) however, it was a good game none-the-less!

TROOP MEETING:

We will have an in-person Troop meeting at 7:30PM at Immanuel Church on the Hill this Monday.

I was not out of town for the last meeting; however, I believe your SPL asked that all scouts going on the camping trip and below the rank of first class, to please bring their fully loaded pack to this Monday’s meeting for review.  Winter camping is no joke, and we want to make sure that all of you are properly prepared for the weather and have the proper gear.

The quartermaster will be there to sign-out gear and you should come prepared for food assignments.

As always please bring your book, there are opportunities to demonstrate knowledge and have one of the older scouts sign off on these skills.

CAMPING PRINCE WILLIAM FOREST:

We will not be deterred, and we will still have a winter camping (just a lot closer and at one of favorite camping sites, Prince William Forest), see message below from Mr. Mulvaney!  Please sign up if you have not already done so.

We can not catch a break with our winter camping trips.  Haven’t been able to build quinzees, and now mother nature strikes again.  We just found out that the weather has been too warm and the Lake isn’t frozen enough to support 400 Scouts for the weekend.  So, sadly, Camp Minisi had to cancel the IceFest for this year.

But, never fear!!!! WE will still go Camping!!!!  And now- even better- it is closer to home, at Turkey Run (Prince William Forest), and even better than that- it is now just HALF PRICE!!! What the waaaa, can’t beat that.

So, if you were signed up to go to IceFest, we have transferred that over to the new camping (if you change your mind, please let me know and I’ll adjust)

But NOW with the great new location and HALF PRICE OFFER- if you want to go, please join in the fun.  Still plenty of time to plan.  Monday’s meeting will focus part of the time on this camp out.

So join us for the 1st Campout of 2023!!!
